With a year to go before the iPhone 15 series launches, Apple could surprise its customers with some interesting upgrades. Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has claimed the company will introduce solid-state buttons.
Kuo has also predicted the new iPhones will feature a periscope lens system. It’s unclear whether it would replace the telephoto camera or be added as a fourth lens.

Rumors about the iPhone 15 series are starting to ramp up, with some significant changes tipped. Apple could move to USB-C on all models, including the standard iPhone and the iPhone 15 Plus, according to a new report.
The iPhone 15 Pro could also get a RAM upgrade to 8GB. That bump would be a significant change, and it could be used to differentiate the Pro from the standard model.
Respected Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo recently shared a few details about the new chip inside the iPhone 15. It’s said to be built using Apple supplier TSMC’s 3nm process, which should improve performance and reduce power consumption.
It’s still not clear whether the A17 Bionic chip will be available on all iPhone models this year. Apple may keep its older A16 chips on some of its cheaper devices in order to help justify the price difference for the Pro models.

In 2023, iPhone 15 models may get improved cameras. Supply chain analyst Ming-Chi Kuo expects the non-Pro model’s main camera to be upgraded to 48MP with a larger image sensor than the iPhone 14 Pro’s. It may also include a 2x telephoto lens for improved optical zoom.
Kuo believes all of the iPhone 15 series will also get a new front camera. It will have a larger aperture, which should give it better low-light performance. This should also improve the depth effect for Face ID and selfies.
All iPhone 15 models are likely to support MagSafe charging and Qi2 wireless charging, allowing you to charge them at 7.5W with compatible accessories. They’re also expected to ditch the Lightning port in favor of USB-C. Gurman also claims that the new feature will integrate with the Apple Watch to provide users with real-time coaching and feedback.
A few other interesting rumors are swirling around about the iPhone 15. According to a Twitter user, Apple will use USB-C on all the iPhone 15 models. This is a notable switch, since the company’s phones typically only support Lightning ports. The switch to USB-C is expected to be a result of the new laws in Europe that require all devices to have this type of port. Moreover, it’s likely that the phone will only support accessories certified by Apple through the Made for iPhone program.
