Users are torn between a wide array of alluring iPhone 15 colors. A Barbie pink model has captivated the hearts of users on Twitter.
The iPhone 15 is expected to ditch the Lightning port in favor of a USB-C iphone 15 standard. This change would be a result of new EU rules on chargers.
Launching Date
According to a recent report by Bloomberg journalist Mark Gurman, Apple is aiming to announce the iPhone 15 on either September 12 or 13 and then release it a week later. That’s in line with previous iPhone releases and the usual timeframe for when new iPhones come out.
A few significant changes are expected, including a new color and improved cameras for the Pro models. Some rumors have suggested that the ‘Pro Max’ model could get a periscopic camera for six times optical zoom.
The ‘Pro’ models are also likely to maintain the 120 Hz refresh rate introduced with the iPhone 13 Pro. Moreover, the ‘Pro Max’ model may have a single physical button with haptic feedback, which can perform multiple functions like muting, accessibility options, flashlight activation, concentration mode, and app opening. It will also work as a power button, which will enable fast charging. It’s worth noting that the iPhone 15 will no longer support its Lightning connector, which will instead be replaced with a USB-C connection.
Technology Update
A few notable tech updates are expected in the iPhone 15. According to rumors, the Pro and Max/Ultra models will switch from Lightning to USB-C ports. This change is reportedly necessary to comply with EU law, but Apple may also be looking to reduce component costs.
In addition, the rumor mill suggests that all iPhone 15 models will retain their 120 Hz refresh rate. Apple will reportedly tweak its display driver chip to make it more energy efficient, which should result in improved battery life.
In terms of other changes, a leaked CAD image suggests that the mute button could be replaced by a single multiuse Action button like in the Apple Watch Ultra. This button will be programmable and could perform various actions, including accessing accessibility features, changing the sound mode, launching the camera app, turning on the flashlight, activating concentration mode, or running shortcuts. It’s possible the phone will also include a periscopic lens that offers up to six times optical zoom.
Price
If you’re looking to save money and can wait until after the iPhone 15 series is launched in September, you might be able to pick up a used one from a carrier or retailer. Apple tends to pull the plug on old models after announcing new ones, and you might be able to get a decent price.
On the other hand, it’s likely that you’ll pay more for a Pro or Max model this year. According to rumors, the phones will feature a new chip, improved cameras (including a better telephoto camera on the Pro Max), and a titanium design with frosted glass.
What’s more, a Barclays analyst suggests that the phones will be up to $100 or $200 more expensive than the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max respectively. This is based on information he’s obtained from supply chain companies in Asia. If this turns out to be true, it could be a major blow to Apple’s sales.
